Manchester United are reportedly in the final stages of negotiations to secure the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans, as per The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

The Red Devils are eager to reinforce their midfield options and have shifted focus to other players after their pursuit of Atalanta midfielder Ederson collapsed.

Manchester United are now nearing an agreement for Tielemans, with the Belgian international expected to make the move to Old Trafford in the coming weeks.

The Aston Villa star brings the ideal blend of quality and experience that United are looking for in midfield, and manager Michael Carrick is said to be keen on adding such a seasoned player to his squad.

Although Tielemans has attracted interest from multiple clubs, he is believed to prefer a move to the Theatre of Dreams, with discussions continuing between all parties to finalise the transfer details.

The 29-year-old established himself as a top-class midfielder during his four-and-a-half years at Leicester City, before continuing his impressive form at Aston Villa, where he became one of the Premier League’s standout performers.

The Belgian played a pivotal role in helping Aston Villa clinch the Europa League title last season. Despite being under contract until June 2028, a summer departure now appears likely.

Since arriving in England in January 2019, Tielemans has made nearly 250 Premier League appearances, contributing 26 goals and 39 assists.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, he is versatile enough to operate in central and attacking roles when required.

Tielemans also delivered strong performances for Belgium at the World Cup, scoring two goals in five matches.

However, an injury forced him to miss the quarter-final clash against Spain, which proved costly as Belgium succumbed to a 2-1 defeat in his absence.

Renowned for his precise passing, set-piece delivery, and ability to intercept the ball, Tielemans could significantly strengthen Manchester United’s midfield if the deal goes through.
