Manchester United have officially confirmed their first summer signing while also finalising two additional transfer deals.
Andrey Santos has become the first new arrival of the window, with Karl Darlow and Youri Tielemans expected to join him shortly.
It was widely predicted to be a hectic transfer period for the Red Devils, as head coach Michael Carrick has emphasised the need for a midfield overhaul along with reinforcements on the wings and in attack.
However, INEOS remain mindful of maintaining financial balance through player sales, with Rasmus Hojlund being the only major departure so far.
The exits of Casemiro and Jadon Sancho have already resulted in significant wage savings for the 20-time English league champions, but the club still needs to generate more funds.
Marcus Rashford is likely to leave despite Carrick’s willingness to reintegrate him into the squad. Noussair Mazraoui may also be on his way out of Old Trafford.
The Moroccan full-back impressed during the World Cup and is highly regarded by the Old Trafford supporters for his adaptability and reliability.
The former Bayern Munich player is capable of operating on both flanks as a right-back and left-back, and he has even filled in as a midfielder when required.
Despite his versatility, INEOS could opt to capitalise on his market value this summer, with AC Milan showing strong interest in acquiring his services.
Former United manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly eager for a reunion, and according to Africa Foot, discussions between the two clubs are expected to intensify in the coming days.
According to information obtained by Africa Foot, “AC Milan has identified Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui as a key target to strengthen the right-back position during this summer transfer window.”
The report further adds, “Talks are anticipated to accelerate soon to determine the feasibility of a deal. The Rossoneri believe Mazraoui’s top-level experience in both the Champions League and Premier League would be a valuable addition to their squad.”
“From Manchester United’s side, no final decision has been made regarding the future of the Atlas Lion. The coming days are expected to be crucial in clarifying the Red Devils’ stance, while AC Milan aims to move swiftly to finalise what they view as a priority signing before the new season begins.”
Before sanctioning a potential sale, United must evaluate the depth in their current squad. At present, Carrick has only Diogo Dalot as a natural right-back, and there is also no direct backup for Luke Shaw.
Noussair Mazraoui’s ability to cover both positions makes him an important asset. Should he depart, it might signal United’s intention to pursue Julian Ryerson from Borussia Dortmund as his replacement. The club is unlikely to accept a low offer considering the significant value the Moroccan brings to the team.
Signed under Erik ten Hag, Mazraoui is currently valued at around £15 million. AC Milan would need to at least match that figure to convince United to part ways with him.
