Hoffenheim’s managing director Andreas Schicker has officially confirmed that the club is currently engaged in negotiations concerning the future of their rising star, Fisnik Asllani. The 23-year-old forward has emerged as one of the most sought-after prospects in Europe following a brilliant season in the Bundesliga.
Hoffenheim’s sporting director has acknowledged that the club is in talks regarding Asllani’s potential exit. With numerous top European clubs expressing interest, a summer move away from the Rhein-Neckar-Arena seems increasingly likely for the prolific striker.
“The situation is that there are talks with clubs both domestically and abroad. It’s also no secret that Asllani has a release clause,” Schicker told Kicker.
These remarks come as several teams from England and Spain continue to track the forward closely. Schicker’s public confirmation indicates that Hoffenheim are prepared for his likely departure during the upcoming transfer window.
Barcelona and Chelsea remain at the forefront of the race for his signature. Barcelona have been monitoring Asllani for months, with reports suggesting that initial contact was made as early as March. While the Catalan club’s interest has so far been informal, the potential sale of Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain could prompt them to step up their pursuit of the German-born striker, as Hansi Flick looks to strengthen his front line.
However, the La Liga side faces strong competition from the Premier League. Both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are said to be seriously interested in Asllani, viewing him as a player well-suited to the physical style of English football.
Asllani has enjoyed a breakthrough season, registering 10 goals and nine assists in 33 appearances across all competitions. His impressive output makes him a cost-effective option for clubs seeking attacking reinforcements without spending heavily.
The speculation surrounding Asllani’s future has largely stemmed from the details of his contract. Although he is under contract with Hoffenheim until 2029, his agreement includes a release clause reportedly worth just under €30 million, a figure considered highly appealing for a player of his calibre and potential.
While Borussia Dortmund have also been linked as a possible domestic destination, it is believed that Asllani is more inclined towards a move abroad, seeking a new challenge outside Germany.
For Hoffenheim, the inclusion of the release clause limits their control over the player’s next move, as any club meeting the valuation can trigger negotiations. Nevertheless, Schicker’s confirmation of ongoing discussions indicates that the club prefers a managed and structured process for any transfer.
Despite the growing attention surrounding him, Asllani has remained composed and focused on his football. Yet, he has openly shared his ambition to play in Europe’s most prestigious competition, a factor that could heavily influence his decision on his next club.
“Of course, the Champions League is a dream for every footballer. I think it is simply a beautiful feeling to play in the Champions League,” Asllani said. “I get goosebumps just watching when the anthem plays. I always watch the Champions League with my father, and that’s why it has always been a huge dream for me to play in that great tournament one day. I have dreamed of that since I was a little boy.”
