Delhi:Pakistan Cricket Board has taken a big step to improve the fitness and fielding of its cricket team. Now it will be mandatory for Pakistani players to not only play cricket but also play paddle during the training camp. The Board believes that this fast-paced racket game will play an important role in improving the fitness, movement and fielding of the players.
Giving information about this decision, PCB High-Performance Director Aaqib Javed said that paddle courts have been prepared at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, so that the players do not need to go out during the camp.
Have to play paddle for 40 minutes every other day
According to Aaqib Javed, it will be mandatory for all the players training in NCA to play paddle for about 40 minutes every other day. He believes that this game requires fast movement and agility, which has direct benefits in cricket, especially during fielding.
He said that it is equally important for the players to remain mentally fresh during the long training camp, hence they are being given an environment where they can have entertainment along with fitness.
Paddle courts prepared in NCA itself
Earlier, Pakistani players had to go out of the academy to play paddle, but now modern courts have been prepared in the NCA campus itself.
Aaqib Javed said that the aim of the board is to provide all the modern facilities to the players at one place, so that they can prepare better during the long camp and have their overall development.
Special focus will be on fitness and fielding
PCB believes that paddle is not just a means of entertainment, but it also helps in improving the fitness, footwork, reflex and movement of the players. This is the reason why it has now been made a part of regular training.
Even before, sports like football have been made a part of practice in cricket teams, but now Pakistan Cricket Board has done a new experiment in the direction of improving fitness by adopting paddle.
In recent times, questions have been continuously raised on the fitness and fielding of the Pakistan team. In such a situation, PCB hopes that this new initiative will bring positive changes in the players’ physical ability as well as their performance on the field.
