New Delhi. IRCTC, which operates the online ticket booking service of Indian Railways, has launched a new beta version of its website. The new portal was made live at 9 pm on Wednesday night, in which new design, attractive color theme and many user-friendly features have been added. Its aim is to make the ticket booking process simpler and faster than ever for passengers.
After almost 24 years, a major change has been made in the IRCTC website. The old website was started in the year 2002. In view of the changes that have taken place in the Internet and digital technology during this period, the website has now been given a modern look.
According to IRCTC, around 14.5 lakh tickets are booked on the platform every day, while crores of passengers use it every month. In such a situation, the new portal has been designed keeping in mind better user experience and faster booking process.

What changed in the new website?
Relief from unnecessary captcha: Now there will be no need to fill captcha at every step.
Eliminate unnecessary pop-ups: Flashing graphics and unwanted pop-ups have been removed, making the website more intuitive to use.
Seat availability on a single screen: Seat availability for all classes will be visible at one place during ticket booking.
Faster Checkout Process: Booking steps have been reduced, making tickets booked faster than before.
Easy re-booking: Passenger information will remain secure, so there will be no need to fill the details again and again while booking tickets next time.
Students also played an important role
Students have also been involved in improving the design and user interface of the new IRCTC website. Their suggestions were used to make the new color theme and layout more attractive and user-friendly. Currently this is a beta version and necessary changes will be made in the final version based on the feedback received from passengers.
The website will also be connected to the new reservation engine
IRCTC has said that soon the new portal will also be linked to the being upgraded Passenger Reservation Engine. According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), this decades-old reservation system is being upgraded in accordance with modern technology.
A new reservation engine is also likely to be launched in the coming few weeks. After its implementation, the capacity of ticket booking will increase and passengers will be able to get faster, easier and better online service than before.
