North Frontier Railway (NFR) has released a notification to recruit 6,777 apprentices. The most notable feature of this recruitment is that candidates will be selected based on a merit list rather than a written examination.
The application process for this railway vacancy has not yet begun. Interested candidates will be able to apply online starting July 20, 2026. The deadline for applications is August 19, 2026.
Who can apply for the Railway Apprentice position?

Regarding the application fee, candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay a fee of ₹100. However, the application process is completely free for SC, ST, and PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates, as well as for all female candidates. Selection based on merit list
There will be no written examination or interview for this recruitment. Candidates will be selected entirely based on a merit list; therefore, candidates with strong academic marks will have a higher chance of selection.
Railway apprentices to receive a monthly stipend
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend during the apprenticeship period. Under current regulations, NTC/STC holders will be provided a minimum stipend of ₹9,600 per month. Candidates undergoing second or third-year apprenticeships may receive stipends of ₹10,560 and ₹11,040, respectively.
