BJP MLA Ram Kadam has supported the 'One Nation, One Election' bill. He claimed that this would increase the country's GDP by 1.5% and make India the third largest economic superpower. He also commented on the speculations of merger with NCP.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [भारत]July 16 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ram Kadam on Thursday supported the proposed 'One Nation, One Election' bill, saying it will give a big boost to India's economy and help the country become the world's third largest economic superpower.

Speaking to ANI, Kadam said, "One of the main things is the estimate that our GDP growth rate will increase by 1.5 per cent. If one decision can give such a big boost, then no one can stop India from becoming the third largest economic superpower in the world."

Also spoke on speculations about merger of NCP

Responding to speculations about a possible merger within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Kadam said it was an internal matter of the party and he declined to comment on it. He said, "Whether Shri Sharad Pawar's faction and Sunetra Pawar's faction come together or remain separate is for those parties to decide. However, as a senior MLA in his fourth term, I remember that during the Assembly session, many MLAs from both the parties believed that the date around February 12 was fixed for the merger. This is an internal matter, so it would not be appropriate to comment on it. However, the ongoing speculations and discussions suggest that "Merger talks were already well advanced."

These bills, which were introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 17, 2024 and sent to the JPC for further scrutiny, collectively aim to hold simultaneous elections across the country. (ANI)
