The Odyssey sees Christopher Nolan adapt Homer’s ancient epic for the big screen, with Matt Damon leading the cast as Odysseus on his perilous journey home. With the film now in theaters, fans are wondering whether The Odyssey has a post-credits scene.
Should you stick around for any post-credits scenes in The Odyssey?
No, you should not. The credit roll for The Odyssey is standard, with no extra scenes tucked away at the end. This mirrors every other film in Nolan’s career; he has never included a post-credits sequence, not even in his celebrated Dark Knight trilogy. His philosophy treats the final frame as the definitive conclusion, and this classical retelling is no exception.
What the credits do offer is an auditory landmark. The original song “When I’m Home” plays over the scroll, making it the first time Nolan has a co-writing credit on a track for one of his films. The neo-classical piece, performed by James Blake and Travis Scott alongside composer Ludwig Göransson, features Scott rapping and Blake singing hopeful lyrics co-written by the four artists.
Furthermore, sharp-eyed audience members who remain seated will notice a dedication plate honoring David Keighley. The Chief Quality Officer at IMAX and a 37-year veteran of the company, Keighley championed the large-format technology and oversaw the development of the new IMAX film camera created specifically for this production. He completed his work on The Odyssey just three weeks before his death on August 28, 2025.
The film itself is a faithful retelling of Odysseus’s (Matt Damon) decade-long struggle to return to Queen Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and his son Telemachus (Tom Holland). Shot entirely on IMAX film cameras, it’s a retelling of the hero’s trials on a visual scale never before attempted.
Preview screenings began the evening of July 16, with the exclusive theatrical run starting everywhere on July 17.
