Lord’s ODI Last Match: The third ODI match is to be played between India and England at Lord’s on Sunday 19th July. If reports are to be believed, this match may prove to be the last match of the international career of Indian team captain Rohit Sharma. According to the Indian Express, BCCI’s selection committee and Indian team coach Gautam Gambhir have made it clear to Rohit Sharma that he is not a part of the planning for the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027.

Information already given to Rohit Sharma

If reports are to be believed, coach Gautam Gambhir and the selection committee had informed Rohit Sharma about the future roadmap last week itself. The selectors are now moving forward keeping in mind the World Cup to be held in 2027 and they plan to give opportunities to young players in the team. It is believed that in the coming times, young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal can be given big and regular roles.

Parents also reached London-reports

There is also news that Rohit Sharma’s parents have also reached London for the one day match to be held on 19th. Rohit himself has made special arrangements for his parents to be present at Lord’s so that they can witness his final match. The current England tour has been full of ups and downs with the bat for Rohit Sharma. He scored only 11 runs in the first ODI, whereas in the second match played in Cardiff, he could score only 26 runs in 47 balls.

Have already retired from two formats

Rohit retired on 29 June 2024 after India won the T-20 World Cup. After this, he also said goodbye to Test cricket before the England tour on 7 May 2025.
