Banish those annoying bugs for good.
Fruit flies hit my apartment hard this year. One unlucky bunch of bananas caused an outbreak, and those annoying zigzaggers were orbiting my head and slipping into my coffee with uncanny precision. I tried every Redditor-recommended remedy possible, but nothing worked until I plugged in a couple of Zevo flying insect traps. The magical plug-ins fixed my fruit fly problem almost overnight, so I reached out to Brandon Runyona board-certified entomologist with 20 years of pest control experience, to understand how and why the traps work.
Runyon, a National Pest Management Association committee member, revealed that he uses the Zevo bug trap in his own home and said that “pairing your Zevo trap with a good old-fashioned cleaning is your best bet at removing the [flying insect] population.” Runyon also shared some tips on how to maximize Zevo traps’ bug-catching capacity and nip fruit flies in the bud for good.

According to Runyon, insects are highly sensitive to blue light, like skylight or bright moonlight, and an instinctive dorsal (back or upper body) response urges them to keep the brightest light source above them. When a Zevo trap shoots blue UV light upward behind a sticky pad, it “throws off their flight pattern and keeps them near the lights.” With this in mind, Runyon continued to explain, “It’s best to make sure [the traps] are placed in an area where they can be seen, but avoid placing them under direct sunlight or an overhead light.”
Zevo traps work even better when you maintain general sanitation. Runyon suggests keeping your sink garbage disposal clean and clear, disposing of old sponges and discarding overripe produce—all of which are breeding grounds for fruit flies. With cleanliness taken care of, “the Zevo trap will be removing adults from the population, and every stuck adult is one less breeding adult,” said Runyon.
I used two Zevo traps in my apartment to take care of my sudden fruit fly infestation. My favorite part is that they’re discreet. Unlike homemade liquid traps that can stink up the surrounding area and other common sticky traps that leave the dead bugs out in the open, Zevo traps keep the carnage facing the wall. They also rotate 90 degrees, which has allowed me to plug in the trap upside down or sideways for tight spots.
Given the entomologist-approved design and apparent overnight success in eradicating my fruit fly problem, I have no doubts as to why Amazon shoppers have purchased over 100,000 of these bug-catching devices in the past month alone. Depending on the severity of your flying insect problem, whether that’s fruit flies, fungus gnats, house flies or mosquitoes, keep Zevo flying insect traps around and watch your space become clear of pests quickly and cleanly.
