Vijay’s son, Jason Sanjay, is starting his directional debut with the film Sigma. The filmmaker is the son of Tamil superstar Vijay. However, he is not beginning his career as an actor. Instead, Jason is stepping behind the camera with his first directorial, Sigma. Ahead of the film’s release, he has also spoken about why he chose direction over acting and turned down an acting offer years ago.

Born to Tamil superstar Vijay and Sangeetha Sornalingam, Jason Sanjay has mostly kept a low profile despite belonging to one of the biggest film families in South India.

While many assumed he would eventually become an actor, Jason always had different plans. His interest was in filmmaking rather than performing in front of the camera.

Over the years, he spent time on film sets and explored cinema from across the world. That gradually developed into a passion for storytelling, screenwriting, and direction.

Jason recently revealed that he had already decided to become a director long before people began speculating about his acting debut.

Speaking to Ananda Vikatan, he shared that filmmaker Alphonse Puthren had once approached him with an acting offer when he was around 20 years old. He declined the offer because he had already made up his mind about becoming a director.

Jason said filmmaking had always been his first choice.
