Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), expressed his discontent with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. He voiced his concerns regarding the removal of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk from the protest site at Jantar Mantar and urged the PM to refrain from displaying arrogance. Kejriwal emphasized that history has shown the consequences of such behavior. In a video shared on social media, he appealed to Modi, stating, 'I request you not to act this way, and to show less arrogance. Such arrogance is not appropriate. History has proven that those who exhibit such pride often face downfall.'

Allegations of Misconduct

Kejriwal accused authorities of improperly removing Wangchuk from the protest site, claiming that his supporters were treated poorly during the incident. He recounted, 'This morning, I heard that Sonam Wangchuk was forcibly taken away, and there was an attempt to break his hunger strike. Plainclothes police were sent in, covering him with a blanket, and they mistreated his companions before taking him to the hospital.' Drawing parallels to Mahatma Gandhi's hunger strikes during the freedom struggle, he questioned the government's approach to protests, stating, 'Gandhiji undertook long hunger strikes, and the British did not behave this way. Did we fight for freedom just to see our own government act like this?'

Concerns Over Education Issues

Kejriwal highlighted that Wangchuk and the protesting students were raising important issues related to education and examination systems. He questioned Modi, asking, 'What are these children demanding? They are our nation's youth. It is unacceptable to treat them this way. They are simply asking for a better education system to prevent paper leaks and ensure fair examinations.' He criticized the government for focusing on undermining the protests rather than addressing the students' concerns, stating, 'Instead of paying attention to these issues, the government is fixated on how to discredit and insult their movement.' In a post, he remarked that Modi insulted Sonam Wangchuk out of arrogance and should have engaged in dialogue with him instead.
