Saharsa Pink Bus: A fantastic initiative has been launched in Bihar to make travel safer and more comfortable for women and schoolgirls. The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) has introduced a 'Pink Bus Service' in the Saharsa district. The aim is to provide safe, comfortable, and affordable public transport for women. Currently, this service has been extended to Saharsa. Here are the details regarding the routes, timings, seating capacity, and safety measures implemented for women.

What is the bus route?
For now, one Pink Bus has been allocated to the Saharsa district. The bus operates from Saharsa to Mirzapur, passing through Rahua, Bada, and Navhatta. Female passengers can travel along this specific route.

What are the bus timings?
The Pink Bus departs from Saharsa daily at 8:30 AM and returns from Navhatta around 4:00 PM. With this fixed schedule, women can better plan their daily commutes.

What is the seating capacity?
The Pink Bus has a seating capacity of 24 passengers. A female conductor has also been deployed on the bus for the convenience of the passengers.

Pooja Jaiswal, the female conductor of the Pink Bus, stated that the state government launched this service to ensure safe travel for women. The bus is exclusively for female passengers, allowing them to travel without fear or hesitation.

Special facilities for women
Prioritizing women's safety, several advanced features have been included in the Pink Bus, such as:

GPS tracking
Panic button
Female conductor

The objective of these features is to provide a safe and reliable environment for women and female students during their commute.

Women praise the initiative
Local women have lauded the launch of the Pink Bus as a positive initiative by the government. Bhavna, a government teacher, noted that working women often face time constraints; this service will help them reach their destinations safely and on time. She also thanked the state government for this initiative.

'The commute will now feel safer than before'
Another teacher, Anita, mentioned that she previously had to rely on tempos and regular buses to commute to and from school. The overcrowding and inconvenience caused significant daily trouble.

She believes that the introduction of the 'Pink Bus' service will provide women with a safe, comfortable, and dignified commuting experience. Working women, female students, and other female passengers, in particular, stand to benefit directly from this initiative.

Pink Bus service could expand further
Local women believe that if more Pink Buses are introduced in the future and the service is extended to other key routes, thousands of women in the district will benefit. This would also increase women's participation in public transport.
