Strait of Hormuz ‘oil artery’ hot in the flames of war. Two oil tankers destroyed by mine explosion in the world’s important waterways! Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed this on Saturday. However, Washington rejected Tehran’s claim.
Two oil tankers entered southern Hormuz on Saturday morning, the IRGC said in a statement. There are many mines laid in that area. They collided and caused a huge explosion. Two tankers were burning on the sea. Then they were destroyed. The fate of the two tankers was due to misguided instructions by US intelligence agencies. The strategic waterway is no longer safe, IRGC warns. Because of this it has been closed.
However, America rejected this demand of Tehran. The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a counter statement saying that Iran claimed the destruction of two oil tankers in Hormuz. This claim is completely false and baseless. They did not say anything about the ships. It is not clear which country the two tankers are flagging and how many sailors were on board. Most of Iran’s claims are false. This is no exception. However, the US military has warned that no ship should be tricked into entering the mine-laying area of Hormuz for the sake of the safety of sailors.
