EPFO Passbook: It is common for the interest entry to appear with a delay in the EPFO passbook. Here, we explain how you can check your interest details.

EPFO Passbook: If you are a salaried employee and contribute to the EPF, you might have recently checked your EPFO passbook. Many people complain that the interest entry is not visible in the passbook. There is no need to panic in such cases. EPFO often takes time to update the interest amount, so the balance does not reflect in the passbook immediately.

Why doesn't the interest show up in the passbook?

EPFO credits the interest to all accounts after the rate is finalized for the year. However, there can be a time lag between the interest being credited to the account and the entry appearing in the passbook. In other words, if the interest is not visible right now, it does not mean you haven't received the money.

How to check the interest status

If the interest is not visible in the passbook, first visit the EPFO Member Passbook Portal and log in using your UAN and password. Here, you can view your PF balance and transaction history. If the interest is not updated here either, check again after a few days, as EPFO updates interest in accounts through a specific process.

Information available via the UMANG App

EPFO members can also view their PF balance and passbook through the UMANG App. Select the EPFO service within the app and log in using your UAN. You will find the latest information regarding your account there as well.

Message and Missed Call

If you do not have internet access, you can obtain PF balance information by giving a missed call to 7738299899 from your registered mobile number or by sending a message with the text "EPFOHO UAN" to 7738299899. For this, your UAN must be active, and your bank account, Aadhaar, and PAN must be linked to it.

What to do if the interest is not visible?

If the interest entry does not appear in the passbook even after a considerable amount of time, you can file a complaint online via the EPFiGMS portal. It often takes some time for the interest to be updated in the EPFO passbook.
