AI Search Technology: Former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal is once again making headlines in the tech world. When Elon Musk acquired Twitter in 2022, Parag Agrawal was among the first senior executives to be fired. He subsequently ventured into the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and launched his own company, Parallel Web Systems. Today, the company has not only achieved a multi-billion dollar valuation but has also joined forces with Google, one of the world's largest tech giants.
How the new journey began after leaving Twitter
Parag Agrawal is an alumnus of IIT Bombay and began his career at Twitter as an engineer in 2011. He steadily rose through the ranks and was appointed CEO of Twitter in November 2021. However, in October 2022, Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion and, as part of his restructuring, immediately dismissed top executives, including Parag Agrawal. Following this, Agrawal stepped away from the social media landscape to focus entirely on AI technology, founding the company Parallel Web Systems.
Parallel becomes a $2 billion company.
Agrawal's company is now growing rapidly. It recently raised $100 million in a funding round led by Sequoia Capital, pushing Parallel's total valuation to $2 billion. With this round, the company's total capital raised has reached $230 million. The company plans to utilize these funds to expand its research and development efforts and to acquire larger corporate clients.
Another significant chapter has been added to Parag Agrawal's success story. Their company, Parallel, has now partnered with Google Cloud. Under this deal, Parallel's search technology will be integrated into Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, enabling companies to directly utilize Parallel's search capabilities when building their AI agents. This feature will be available via the Gemini Enterprise API as well as through the Google Cloud Marketplace.
