New 50:50 model implemented for salary increase

Global IT services company Accenture has changed its salary increase process keeping in mind the current economic conditions and cost management. The company has implemented a new 50:50 Salary Hike Model, under which half of the salary hike received by any eligible employee will be added to his basic salary, while the remaining half will be given as a lump sum payment. The company believes that this model will provide immediate financial benefits to the employees and more number of employees can be given the benefit of salary increase.

Understand the new salary increase formula like this

According to an internal document of the company, this arrangement was implemented during the pay revision cycle of June 2026. In this process, first the total salary increment of the employee is decided and then it is divided into two equal parts. For example, if an employee’s salary is approved for a total increase of 3 percent, then 1.5 percent will be added to his basic salary, while the remaining 1.5 percent will be given as a one-time payment. In this way, the employee will get additional cash immediately and the long-term salary expenses of the company will also be controlled.

New rule will not apply to those who get promotion

The company has clarified that this 50:50 model will be applicable only for general salary revision. As before, the entire salary increase of the employees who will get promotion will be directly added to the basic salary. That means there has been no change in the salary structure of the promoted employees. Apart from this, the lump sum payment received in June will not be a substitute for the annual bonus given in December, but will be separate from it.

Bonus and other schemes will also be affected

Accenture said that both the amount added to the basic salary and the lump sum payment will be considered as part of the employee’s eligible income for the financial year 2025-26. Bonus will also be calculated on this basis. At the same time, for employees who are included in Voluntary Equity Investment Program (VEIP) or Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), deduction will also be applicable on their lump sum payment as per the prescribed rules.

Both employees and company will benefit

Experts believe that this model will allow the company to better control its salary budget, while the employees will immediately benefit from additional cash. Many big companies are making changes in salary structure amid increasing global economic challenges and cost management. In such a situation, Accenture’s new 50:50 model can become an example for other companies in the IT industry in the future.
