Nurpur Police Enforce Preventive Detention Against Drug Offenders

In a significant step to combat drug trafficking, the Nurpur Police have detained two repeat offenders under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS Act), 1988. Following a proposal from the Nurpur Police, the Himachal Pradesh Home Department authorized the detention under Section 3(1) of the Act. The individuals are now being transferred to District Jail Dharamshala in Kangra.


Profiles of the Offenders:

  • Namveer Singh, son of Kans Raj, hails from Tamota village in Indora Tehsil, Kangra District.

    • Criminal Cases:

      • FIR No. 161/2024, Indora Police Station – 7.23g of heroin/chitta

      • FIR No. 188/2025, Indora Police Station – 9.42g of heroin/chitta & ₹60,000 in cash





  • Rajinder Kumar, son of Bachan Das, resides in Majra village, Indora Tehsil, Kangra District.

    • Criminal Cases:

      • FIR No. 250/2018, Indora Police Station – 9.42g of heroin/chitta

      • FIR No. 73/2025, Damtal Police Station – 11.40g of heroin/chitta






  • Statement from the Police:

    The police stated that this preventive measure was necessary due to the offenders' ongoing criminal behavior and its detrimental effects on the youth. The Nurpur Police emphasized their commitment to maintaining a rigorous approach against drug trafficking.
