Tezzbuzz Desk – Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has targeted the central government over the police action during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) Sansad Chalo campaign in Delhi. He strongly criticized the use of lathicharge and tear gas on the protesters, calling it against democracy.
Mamta Banerjee posted on social media platform X that she strongly condemns the police action against youth and students in Delhi. Raising the question, he said that there is such a government which is afraid of its own students and answers the questions by using force instead of talks.
He said that the country belongs to students, farmers, women, laborers and every citizen. Dissent cannot be considered a crime and coercive action cannot be an alternative to governance. Mamta Banerjee said in support of the protesting youth that she stands firmly with them and there should be no compromise on accountability.
In fact, CJP supporters had organized a Parliament march in Delhi demanding the resignation of the Education Minister over the alleged paper leak case in NEET exam. When the protesters tried to move from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament, the police created barricades to stop them and when the situation worsened, tear gas shells were fired.
After the police action, security arrangements were increased in many areas. Restrictions regarding entry and exit were also imposed at some metro stations. Police claim that many security personnel were injured during the demonstration.
At the same time, the CJP delegation met Union Health Minister JP Nadda regarding this matter and submitted a memorandum to their demands. On the other hand, a long meeting was also held between Home Minister Amit Shah and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan regarding this issue. Now all eyes are on the further action of the government.
