New Delhi: US President Donald Trump, in his address to the nation, made many big claims regarding election security, national security and the role of intelligence agencies. He alleged that China had illegally obtained sensitive data of about 22 crore American voters during the 2020 election cycle.

Trump also said that important information to this case was hidden from the public and the government by some officials of the FBI, CIA and other agencies. However, these claims have not yet been independently confirmed.

Trump’s big allegation on election security

Trump claimed that the intelligence documents being made public have revealed serious weaknesses in the electoral system. According to him, China accessed information like names, addresses, phone numbers and political preferences of American voters. He said that this is a big threat to American democracy and election security.

Questions raised on FBI and CIA

In his address, Trump alleged that some FBI and CIA officials tried to suppress information to China’s alleged election interference. He claimed that some important intelligence reports were also kept out of the President’s briefing. Trump also asked the concerned agencies to investigate the matter and give instructions to take action against the culprits. However, these allegations have not been independently confirmed.

Demand for electoral reforms

President Trump advocated major changes in the electoral system. He said that proof of American citizenship should be mandatory for every voter. Also demanding to limit the mail-in ballot system only to special circumstances, he appealed to pass the SAFE America Act soon.

Claims also made on economy and security

In his speech, Trump also made many claims regarding the American economy, border security and army. He said that record investment is taking place in America, inflation has declined and the army has been made stronger than before. Apart from this, he also mentioned tax relief and reforms in the health sector.

What is the whole matter?

Trump says that his government is making public many confidential documents to the election system, so that the shortcomings in election security can be brought to light. However, the claims made in his speech to China, FBI, CIA and election rigging have not yet been confirmed by any independent agency or official investigation.
