Whether they watched the match with fellow football fans at cafés or hosted watch parties at home, it was a FIFA World Cup final to remember for Team Spain supporters across Gujarat. We spoke to a few fans to capture the jubilant mood and the celebrations that followed.

‘Spain played tremendous football’

Priyanka Sharma, a soft skills trainer and corporate coach, says, “We (her husband and daughter) watched the final at a cafe and were among the few fans who supported Spain. They played tremendous football and their midfield tactics were their trump card. While it was a boring final, we enjoyed Ferran Torres’ winning goal and Argentina’s Fernandez deserved the red card.”

Shashank Pandey, a businessman, adds, “Watching Spain reign supreme was like witnessing football at its finest — total control, unmatched composure and relentless dominance. It was a tactical masterclass, executed with clinical precision.”

Moksh Shah, a content creator, says, “I feel the best team won, as Spain controlled and dominated the entire game. Rodri and Aymeric Laporte were standout performers, and special credit to Luis de la Fuente (Spain coach) for his contribution. Laporte, Cucurella, Rodri and Olmo were consistent throughout the tournament.”

‘The final few minutes were nerve-wracking’

Those who watched at home had fun too. “I watched the final with my friends at their place, and the emotions were incredible. The moment Ferran scored, we jumped with joy. The final few minutes were absolutely nerve-wracking. We watched the trophy presentation ceremony together, and I was proudly wearing my Spain jersey throughout. What impressed me the most was that it felt like vintage Spanish football again—complete control of possession, calm passing and remarkable composure. They dominated the game from start to finish,” says Ugam Upadhyay, a football fan.

Dewanshi Rathva, a college student, adds, “I watched the final at home with a close friend. We didn’t have a big celebration, but the joy of seeing Spain being crowned world champions was unforgettable. I always believed they would win, and watching Lamine Yamal lift the trophy was an iconic moment. It’s a triumph that every Spain supporter will cherish for a long time.”
