Maharashtra Government Partners with KDCA for New Cricket Stadium in Kolhapur

The government of Maharashtra has officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Kolhapur District Cricket Association (KDCA) to establish the KDCA International Cricket Stadium and Sports Complex in Kolhapur.


Ceremony Led by Chief Minister

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis oversaw the signing and exchange of a lease agreement between the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services of Maharashtra and the KDCA. This agreement is aimed at developing a cricket stadium that meets international standards, with the presence of Deputy CM Sunetra Ajit Pawar and KDCA President SambhajiRaje Chhatrapati.


World-Class Sporting Infrastructure

The initiative is designed to enhance the sporting infrastructure in the region, fostering a robust sporting ecosystem.


According to a post from the Chief Minister's Office on X, 'CM Devendra Fadnavis presided over the signing and exchange of a lease agreement between the Government of Maharashtra (Directorate of Sports and Youth Services) and the Kolhapur District Cricket Association (KDCA) for the development of an international-standard cricket stadium.'


Advanced Facilities in the Project

The project will include a cutting-edge residential cricket academy featuring advanced coaching amenities, a sports science center, both indoor and outdoor practice facilities, physiotherapy and rehabilitation units, fitness centers, and accommodation for players.


This multi-sport hub will also provide facilities for various sports such as wrestling, boxing, judo, fencing, archery, swimming, and table tennis, along with a cricket museum and a modern clubhouse.


Kolhapur's Rise as a Sporting Hub

Fadnavis emphasized Kolhapur's potential to become a significant sporting destination following the lease agreement for the KDCA International Cricket Stadium and Sports Complex.


'Kolhapur is poised to become a major sporting hub with the signing of the lease agreement for the proposed KDCA International Cricket Stadium and Sports Complex. This transformative initiative will create world-class infrastructure for training, competition, and athlete development, while also promoting multiple sporting disciplines under one integrated campus,' Fadnavis stated in a post on X.


Commitment to Future Sporting Champions

'By investing in modern sports infrastructure and nurturing young talent, Maharashtra continues to strengthen its commitment to producing the next generation of sporting champions,' he added.
