New Delhi. There was a crowd of protesters on the road and the security forces were ready. Amidst this hustle and bustle, a man without uniform and wearing slippers, with a stick in his hands, was fearlessly pelting the protesters with sticks. When the media persons present on the spot raised legitimate questions regarding law and order, the response was lathicharge and misbehavior.

Actually, this shameful incident came to light during the ‘Sansad Chalo March’ organized by Cockroach Janata Party on July 20. In the presence of the police, an unknown person roaming in civil dress was hitting the protesters with sticks. When journalist Abhilash of digital news platform ‘The Lallantop’ was doing ground reporting on the spot, he questioned this suspicious action. Fulfilling the duty of impartial reporting became a burden for the journalist and the unknown person directly hit the reporter with a baton.

According to the people and eyewitnesses present during the incident, the atmosphere was already tense. Heavy police force was deployed to stop the workers who came out to surround the Parliament. But amidst the police cordon, a person without any uniform or identification was seen continuously swinging his stick. The question arises whether the police had given this person a free hand?

When journalist Abhilash asked him in what capacity he was using sticks on people, without giving any answer he attacked the reporter.

The matter did not rest here. After the attack on the journalist, when the police officers present there were questioned about this suspicious person, the attitude of the police personnel was even more shocking. Instead of stopping or detaining the person wielding the baton, the police, which advocated law and order, instead started protecting him.

Seeing the increasing uproar, when the journalist asked tough questions on this attitude of the police, the on-duty policemen lost their temper. The officers misbehaved with the reporter and snatched the biggest weapon of journalism, i.e. his mic, and threw him on the ground.
