Police showed strictness during the 'Cockroach Janata Party' (CJP) protest in New Delhi on 20 July. They lathi charged the students. Many students and protesters were injured during this period. Many celebs reached Jantar Mantar in Delhi to boost the morale of the students, one of which was 'Tujhse Hai Raabta' fame Sahaban Azim. He had gone there to support them, during which he was also lathicharged.
During an interview with 'Mid-Day', Sehban Azim said that the protests were going on peacefully. I had gone to join the protest in support of the students, two of my female friends from Mumbai had also come. There was police lathi charge and I was saving my girlfriend when I got hurt. He hit me repeatedly on my hands, legs and many other parts of my body. My hand is swollen.
'There was no need for lathi charge, it was done deliberately'
The actor said that the protestor was stopped by the police even before reaching the designated place of Jantar Mantar. He said that the place where the actual protests were taking place was surrounded by barricades from all sides. Before we could reach there, the police lathicharged us. This was a deliberate action. They didn't even care who they were beating. Women, children, they were killing everyone.
Many celebs came forward openly
From Shabana Azmi to many big actors are condemning the police action. He is standing with the protestors. Apart from this, TV actors Karan Kundra and Elvish Yadav also said that the students who have come forward with their legitimate problems, should not have been subjected to violence. Shoaib Ibrahim and Urfi Javed also condemned this action.

CJP (Cockroach Janta Party) describes itself as a movement of youth and students. In recent times, this organization has been running a movement against alleged corruption and examination irregularities in the education system. The movement has also received support from several student organizations and some public figures.
