Muscat: Indian sub-junior hockey teams continued their winning streak with a stellar performance at the FIH Youth Hockey 5 Asian Championship. The Indian boys team, captained by Ketan Kushwaha, registered two consecutive wins by defeating first Pakistan and then Oman. At the same time, the Indian girls’ team played a 2-2 draw against China and defeated Uzbekistan 16-0.
India’s big win against Oman by 14-0
The Indian boys team registered a 14-0 win against Oman in a one-sided match. Captain Ketan Kushwaha scored four goals, while Ashish Tani Purti scored a brilliant hat-trick.
Apart from this, Rahul Yadav and Shahrukh Ali scored two goals each. Prahlad Rajbhar, Karan Gautam and Romit Pal also contributed to the victory by scoring one goal each.
Defeated Pakistan 7-4
India also performed impressively against Pakistan and won the match 7-4. Karan Gautam became the hero of the victory by scoring three goals.
For India, Rahul Yadav, Prahlad Rajbhar, Ketan Kushwaha and Romit Pal scored one goal each. For Pakistan, Aslam Muhammad Farhan and Adil scored one goal each, while Usman Muhammad scored two goals.
Girls draw with China, score 16 goals on Uzbekistan
The Indian sub-junior girls team ended the match against China in a 2-2 draw. Nausheen Naz scored both goals for India, while Chen Gi and Jiaxin Guo scored for China.
After this, India registered a spectacular victory of 16-0 against Uzbekistan. Nausheen Naz scored four goals, while Sandeepa Kumari and captain Sweety Kujur scored three goals each. Diya and Pushpa scored two goals each, while Kiran Ikka and Neelam Topno contributed to the team’s victory by scoring one goal each.
The tournament is also a World Cup qualifier
The FIH Youth Hockey5 Asian Championship is also the qualifying tournament for the first FIH Hockey5 World Cup. In such a situation, this performance of the Indian teams is being considered very important in the race for the World Cup.
