Mumbai Mumbai Municipal Corporation has taken a big initiative to increase awareness about breast cancer among women and curb the early stages of the disease. A special screening campaign has been started by Municipal Corporation in Mumbai. On Wednesday, about 27,866 women were screened for breast cancer in camps organized at 298 places across Mumbai. The record of the campaign has been recorded in ‘Asia Book of Records’ and ‘India Book of Records’.

On the birthday of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, ‘Sister dear Chief Minister, ask about the essence of health!’ A campaign was run with the message. A large number of women above 30 years of age participated in this campaign. During the campaign, blood pressure, weight and other basic health checks of women were also done. Women who were found to need further mammography during initial breast cancer screening were referred to Municipal Hospital for examination and treatment. In the felicitation ceremony held at Municipal Corporation headquarters, Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi were honored with memento and citation on behalf of both the record organizations. On this occasion, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, Additional Municipal Commissioner Prajakta Verma Lavangare and senior officials were present.

Mayor Ritu Tawde said that if symptoms of breast cancer appear, one should immediately seek doctor’s advice and treatment. If the disease is detected in the early stages, treatment can be started on time. The patient’s chances of recovery are also higher.
