Mumbai Heavy Rain Train Services Affected: Torrential rains accompanied by strong winds have completely disrupted life in Mumbai and its surrounding areas. Due to continuous heavy rains, the water level of rivers and drains in the western region is rising rapidly. Heavy rains have had a serious impact on rail and road traffic. Train operations between Dahanu and Valsad stations of Western Railway were temporarily stopped due to rising water level in the rivers of western region due to rain. Western Railway said that keeping in mind the safety of passengers, Railways has taken this step as a precaution.

Water on many railway bridges at danger mark

According to Western Railway, water has reached the danger mark on many bridges on this route, due to which the movement of trains has been stopped.

What is the situation on which bridges?

Bridge No. 203: Trains were stopped on both the Up and Down lines from 04:43 am after the water reached the danger mark between Umargam Road and Gholwad. Later, after the situation improved, traffic was restored at 06:50 am. However, for safety reasons, trains are being run at a speed of 15 km per hour only.

Bridge No. 230 (Sanjan Yard Bridge): Due to the water level reaching the danger mark here, train movement on both the up and down lines is temporarily closed from 6:45 am.

Bridge No. 284 (Between Udvada and Vapi): Here too, due to rising water level, the operation of trains on the Up and Down lines has been temporarily canceled from around 07:05 am. Many trains coming to Mumbai from Gujarat are stuck midway. Due to this thousands of passengers are waiting in the trains.

Railway monitoring continues

Western Railway officials said that the situation is being constantly monitored. Train services will be fully restored as soon as the water level returns to normal and the safety of the bridges is ensured. Railways has appealed to the passengers to get information about the train status from NTES app or Railway Inquiry Center before travelling.

Water on tracks, many trains rescheduled

DRM of Western Railway Mumbai Central Division also tweeted and informed that train traffic has been affected due to water logging on the tracks in Umargaon-Gholwad section. Due to this, many trains running on this route have been rescheduled on Thursday. Passengers have been appealed to avoid unnecessary travel and follow the instructions given by the railway personnel.

Heavy rain alert for next 24 hours

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted extremely heavy rain in the next 24 hours for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and surrounding coastal areas. An alert has been issued in view of the possibility of continued rain with strong winds.
