Rajkummar Rao has an exciting array of films set for release on the big screen. Among them is Prahaar, inspired by the life of public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. Directed by Avinash Arun, this courtroom drama was initially slated for a theatrical debut on August 7, making it one of the most anticipated films of the month. However, recent reports suggest that the film's release has been postponed. Produced by Maddock Films, Prahaar features a talented cast including Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sikander Kher. As of now, the filmmakers have not officially confirmed this delay.
Is Prahaar's Release Delayed?
As reported by a media outlet, the decision to postpone Prahaar was made after discussions among the production team and stakeholders. They concluded that releasing the film during that timeframe might not be the best choice. If it had been released as planned, it would have come out just a week after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which hits theaters on July 30, and a week before Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, both set for August 14. All three films are generating significant buzz, according to a source.
The report also indicates that Prahaar is a unique project that requires a substantial release window, as it has the potential to attract a large audience. The trade has been abuzz with speculation about the film's postponement, especially since producer Dinesh Vijan is known for his extensive promotional efforts well ahead of a film's release.
It's important to note that the production team has yet to make an official announcement regarding the delay of Prahaar. Recently, it was reported that Shraddha Kapoor's film Eetha has also been postponed, although no official updates have been provided. Eetha is currently scheduled for release on August 28.
Upcoming Bollywood Releases in August 2026
In addition to Eetha and Prahaar, two other significant Bollywood films are set to release in August. Batwara 1947, featuring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, is expected to premiere on August 14, coinciding with Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2. Furthermore, Yash's pan-India film, Toxic - A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 26. Meanwhile, The Vvaan, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, has been postponed to September 24, 2026.
