After captivating audiences on streaming for nearly a decade, the world of ' Mirzapur ' is now heading to theatres with ' Mirzapur The Film '. For actor Shweta Tripathi , who has portrayed Golu Gupta since the series began, the transition from OTT to the big screen is more than just another release. She believes it reflects the immense love and loyalty the franchise has received from viewers over the years.
Looking back on the show's remarkable run, Shweta admitted that no one on the team had imagined the impact 'Mirzapur' would eventually have when filming first began.
Tripathi shared with Money Control, "When we started shooting Mirzapur almost eight years ago, none of us could have predicted the journey it would take. As actors, you hope your work connects with people, but very rarely does a show become part of everyday conversations, memes, celebrations and even the language people use. Mirzapur did that. It made us their Guddu Bhaiya and Golu Didi. Today, people don’t just watch the show, they care about the characters and root for them."
With 'Mirzapur The Film', the popular crime drama becomes one of the first major Indian streaming franchises to receive a theatrical adaptation. Shweta believes the move is a testament to the emotional bond audiences have built with the show's characters over multiple seasons.
She shared, "That’s why Mirzapur becoming one of the first major Indian streaming franchises to make the leap to the big screen feels so special. It’s not just a film adaptation. It’s the result of years of audience love. Every season ended with people wanting more, revisiting the show, discussing theories and carrying these characters with them. In many ways, this film belongs to the fans as much as it belongs to us."

Speaking about the character's impact, she said, "What makes me particularly emotional is Golu’s journey. I’ve lived with her for years. She began as a young woman who believed in doing the right thing and gradually transformed into someone navigating power, grief, revenge and ambition. Watching audiences grow alongside her has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. Even today, I meet young women who tell me they connected with her resilience, her flaws and her refusal to fit into expectations. That’s incredibly moving."
Familiar faces return alongside new additions in 'Mirzapur The Film''Mirzapur The Film' reunites much of the original cast, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi, Rajesh Tailang, Sheeba Chaddha, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Shweta Tripathi.
The film also introduces Ravi Kishan, Sonal Chauhan and Sushant Singh to the franchise. One of the biggest casting changes sees Jitendra Kumar step into the role of Bablu Pandit, replacing Vikrant Massey as Guddu Pandit's younger brother.
