Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took the IPL by storm at just 15, smashing 776 runs, winning the Orange Cap, and becoming the tournament's MVP. But as he quickly discovered, international cricket is a different beast altogether.

His debut UK tour was a reality check. Scores of 14, 13, and 15 across three T20Is, with an average of 14, told only part of the story. More concerning was how he never fell beyond 10 deliveries, struggling to find rhythm against Jofra Archer's sharp bounce and England's disciplined attack on seaming tracks. The flat batting paradises of the IPL were long gone.

Yet, there were flashes of that fearless spark when he famously swept his very first international ball from Archer for six. But England's bowlers refused to give him an inch after that.

Now, Zimbabwe offers a fresh canvas. With Sanju Samson not in the squad, Sooryavanshi is likely to open alongside Abhishek Sharma. Conditions in Harare are more balanced, though challenges remain. Blessing Muzarabani's extra bounce and Sikandar Raza's off-spin in the powerplay will test his adaptability.

This isn't about proving his talent; that much is clear. It's about proving he can adapt, learn, and deliver when conditions aren't tailor-made for his explosive style. Zimbabwe could be the perfect place to start answering those questions.
