Mercedes-Maybach has introduced a new version of its flagship luxury SUV, the 2027 Maybach GLS 680. The car has been made more premium with several important changes in the exterior design, cabin, modern technology and mechanical components. The luxury car will go on sale at dealerships in the US by the end of 2026, which will be produced from the manufacturing plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Changes in exterior structure and design

The front of the new model features Maybach’s signature radiator grille with illuminated surrounds, featuring the name ‘MAYBACH’ in lightning form for the first time. Mercedes’ iconic three-pointed star on the bonnet and rose gold touches in the headlights. At the rear, revised LED tail lamps with 3-D star graphics have been added. Apart from this, it gets new color options like ‘Dark Petrol’ and ‘Verde Silver’, standard 22-inch alloy wheels and optional 23-inch forged wheels with center star finish that stays upright for 24 hours.

Premium cabin and comfortable amenities

The cabin of the car features ‘Beach Brown/Macchiato Beige’ exclusive Nappa leather and Natural Grain Brown Walnut wood trim. For the comfort of the passengers, vibration massage on the front seats and ‘calf-rest massage’ facility on the rear executive seats have been provided for the first time. Cabin insulation has been improved, adding a new electric air filtration system that purifies the interior air every 90 seconds and a 710-watt Burmester 3D surround sound system with two additional speakers.

This luxury SUV is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This engine generates 603 hp of power and 850 Nm of torque, which is 53 hp more than the old model. The steering system and air suspension have also been updated for quicker response.

Advanced infotainment and safety technology

Based on the new ‘Mercedes-Benz Operating System’, the MBUX infotainment system supports ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini. It includes an advanced driver assistance system with 10 cameras, 5 radar sensors, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a new central computing unit to make the driving experience safer and easier.
