The Ramayana cast appeared at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Everyone across the world got a closer look at one of Indian cinema’s most-awaited films. The panel wasn’t just about the film’s global release plans or behind-the-scenes moments. One moment, in particular, stood out. Yash spoke about Ranbir Kapoor and couldn’t stop praising him for the dedication he has brought to Lord Rama. Calling Ranbir a “fabulous actor”, Yash also admitted that playing the iconic character is far more challenging than most people imagine.

During the panel discussion, Yash spoke about Ranbir Kapoor‘s commitment to the role and expressed his immense respect for the effort that has gone into bringing Lord Rama to life on screen.

Calling Ranbir a “fabulous actor”, Yash said, “Nobody in this world can come and say, ‘I have the virtue to play Lord Rama.’. The fact that he said the same says it all. He is a fabulous actor. It’s not easy to play Lord Rama, and the way he has really worked, huge respect to him.”

His comments received loud applause from the audience at Comic-Con, where the cast interacted with fans from across the world.

Yash also opened up about preparing for Ravana, one of India’s most iconic characters in mythology.

The actor said he wasn’t interested in portraying Ravana only as a larger-than-life villain. Instead, he wanted to understand the person behind the legend.

“I think this is a character who is so popular. Imagine after thousands of years they still burn your effigy every year,” he said, recalling how his grandfather would narrate stories about Ravana during his childhood.

Yash added that what fascinated him most was the psychology of the character.

“The greatest villains are the ones who genuinely believe they are right. They are smart, intelligent, talented, and that makes them dangerous.”

He further explained that every generation has interpreted Ravana differently, so he wanted to bring a fresh perspective to the role.

Yash also said that understanding Ravana’s emotions was far more important than simply looking the part.

“You have to keep your own ideologies aside, understand the character’s thought process, and empathise with him. I had to believe that he was the right guy,” he said.

Apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, Ramayana also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The film is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026.
