Iran enraged by Ukrainian attack on its ship in Caspian Sea, warns of retaliatory action

Desk. Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday strongly criticized Ukraine’s attack on an Iranian commercial ship in the Caspian Sea and warned of possible retaliation by Ukraine. Iran said that Tehran will not hesitate in protecting its national interests and security under international law.

According to a statement from the ministry broadcast by Press TV, the attack took place last Saturday morning, causing a blast on an Iranian commercial ship. One sailor died and another was injured in this incident. Iran condemned the Ukrainian action, calling it a violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter. Iran described the attack as an “aggression” aimed at destabilizing the wider region.

    According to Press TV, the Iranian Foreign Ministry also said that Iran has “never interfered in the Russia-Ukraine war.” Additionally, Iran appealed to the UN Security Council, all UN member states and European countries to hold Ukraine accountable.     According to the Press TV report, Iran has warned that Ukraine and its international supporters will bear full responsibility for the worsening of the situation, and also indicated its readiness to take retaliatory action in defense. Earlier, Donald Trump had announced about Iran’s frozen money that the loss of ships and cargo would be compensated from it. Iran was furious about this.
