Yash Dayal to play for Chhattisgarh: Uttar Pradesh fast bowler Yash Dayal has taken a big decision. He is all set to take the field for Chhattisgarh in the 2026-27 domestic season. The No Objection Certificate (NOC) process of Yash Dayal, who is facing serious rape charges, is currently going on. He has also participated in the pre-season training camp of Chhattisgarh held in Alur, Karnataka. That means they will soon get the No Objection Certificate.

Dayal is away from cricket since IPL 2025

Yash Dayal has not played any competitive cricket match since the final of IPL 2025. Although, he was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) before IPL 2026, but due to personal circumstances and controversies, he could not join the team for the entire season. RCB Director of Cricket Mo Bobat had made it clear that considering the circumstances, Yash Dayal playing was not in the interest of both the player and the franchise.

UP also out of T-20 league

Apart from this, Dayal was retained by Gorakhpur Lions for the UP T-20 League in June 2026 and he also started practicing with the team players. However, when the franchise announced its 18-member team after the auction, Yash Dayal's name was not included in it. Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has also refused to give a statement on this matter. It is likely that Yash Dayal, anticipating this situation, had already planned to move to Chhattisgarh.

Yash Dayal's domestic career

Yash Dayal has played 27 first class and 23 List A matches so far in his domestic career. During this period, he has taken 84 wickets in First Class and 36 wickets in List A. Apart from this, he has also taken 66 wickets in 71 T20 matches. Apart from this, Yash Dayal was included in the Indian team for the first time for the Test series against Bangladesh in September 2024. However, he did not get a chance to debut during that series.

Yash Dayal ready for new beginning

Apart from Yash Dayal, Indian off-spinner Jayant Yadav and Saurashtra all-rounder Dharmendrasinh Jadeja are also included in the pre-season camp of Chhattisgarh. Jayant Yadav has represented Puducherry in the last domestic season. Recently, Chhattisgarh cricket team has appointed former Indian batsman Amey Khursiya as its head coach. Before this, Khursiya has taken the Kerala team to the finals of Ranji Trophy in the 2024-25 season.
