The fast bowler Yash Dayal has requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) to switch to Chhattisgarh for the upcoming domestic season.

Many speculations feature in the UPT20 league after Dayal played in the Ghaziabad Premier League in June, where he picked 9 wickets in four matches.

Playing for Uttar Pradesh between 2018 and 2025, Yash Dayal has featured in 27 first-class matches, picking 84 wickets.

In 23 List A games, he picked 36 wickets, while he clinched 66 wickets in 71 games. Speaking on media, Yash Dayal said, ‘I have applied to the UPCA for an NOC. From next month, I will join the Chhattisgarh team’s fitness camp and play for Chhattisgarh in the upcoming domestic season.’

He also revealed that he had been in discussion with the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association before the start of the season, but needed some time to make a decision.

After discussions with his seniors and family, he decided to go ahead with the move. Yash Dayal feels that leaving Uttar Pradesh was an emotional and difficult decision, as the UPCA had played a major role in his career.

‘Playing for the UP team and representing Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy has been extremely special and a matter of pride for me. The UP Cricket Association is very close to my heart,’ added Dayal.

“UP gave me recognition. I played in the IPL and was also selected for the Indian team. The UPCA has contributed immensely to whatever I have achieved,” added Yash Dayal.

Speaking on his difficult phase, Yash Dayal said cricket helped him to stay strong and focus on his comeback.

‘As a cricketer, no one wants to go through a phase that shakes his life. But cricket has taught me how to make a comeback and perform in every situation. I did not run away from difficulties. My family and my coaches always stood by me,’ he said.

‘Many times I felt like giving up because, despite being capable, I was not able to play. In such circumstances, sometimes the mind starts to break,’ said Yash Dayal.

Yash Dayal hasn’t played a competitive match since the IPL 2025 finals where RCB clinched maiden IPL title. Despite being retained by the RCB ahead of the IPL 2026, he was not included in the squad due to a legal situation.

The RCB director of cricket, Mo Bobat, had explained the decision before the season began. “It wasn’t in Yash Dayal’s or RCB’s best interests to pick him due to his personal situation.”

Chhattisgarh have appointed former Indian batter Amay Khurasiya as a head coach, and the camp in Alus is under his supervision. Khurasyia had previously coached Kerala to the Ranji Trophy finals in 2024-25, where they lost to Vidharbha.
