Patna27 July. Bihar government on Monday said that FIRs registered against people involved in protests over NEET (UG) irregularities and other incidents of paper leak will be immediately withdrawn. In this sequence, the state government said in a notification issued late night that those detained or arrested during the protests will also be released immediately and no direct or indirect action will be taken against them in future also.

“Further, the legal process to withdraw all existing FIRs, criminal complaints or show cause notices filed against persons before 6 pm on 26.07.2026 for participating in the said protests will be immediately initiated,” the notification said. Further, all persons arrested/detained in connection with the cases registered before 6 pm on 26.07.2026 will be released immediately.

Almost all over Bihar 700 people detained

According to Bihar Police, 694 people were detained last week for trying to enforce the statewide bandh called by leftist student organizations to protest against the NEET paper leak. Of these, 339 were minors and students, who were released after age verification. Meanwhile, action was being taken against the other 355 detained people on charges of being involved in ‘violent activities’.

Bihar Police also said that 91 policemen and officers were injured in the clashes during the July 25 bandh. 13 civilians were also injured. Police said that the protesters had vandalized government vehicles.
