The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the team lineup for the forthcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, commencing on August 15. Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain, with KL Rahul serving as the vice-captain. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah has been included in the squad, contingent on his fitness status. Additionally, Ravindra Jadeja is set to make his long-awaited return to the Test format.
BCCI's Official Announcement
In an official statement, the BCCI stated, "The Men’s Selection Committee has finalized India’s squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Prior to the series, the team will engage in a four-day practice match in Colombo, starting on August 7." The statement further noted, "The availability of Sai Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah will depend on fitness clearance from the BCCI's Chief of Cricket Operations. Washington Sundar was not available for selection for the first Test."
