| January – February 2024 | Strict business restrictions were imposed on the bank. New deposit, credit and wallet top-up services stopped. |
| April 2026 | For persistently violating the rules and causing harm to the interests of depositors. Banking license canceled Happened. |

Why did this drastic step have to be taken?
When the Reserve Bank had canceled the banking license of the bank in April this year, it had clearly stated that the functioning of Paytm Payments Bank was being run in a manner which was completely against the interests of the bank itself and the common customers depositing money in it. Despite multiple warnings and guidelines being issued by the regulatory body, persistent deficiencies in compliance were found.
When the situation did not improve, the RBI approached the Delhi High Court under the rules and ultimately the court ordered the permanent closure of the bank and liquidation of its assets and accounts.
