Chandigarh, July 29 - Haryana's Minister Ranbir Gangwa has taken a serious stance on accidents and violations of safety standards related to sewer line work. He has mandated the strict enforcement of safety regulations for the cleaning of sewers and manholes across the state. An official statement released on Wednesday indicated that the Public Works Minister has instructed departmental officials to ensure compliance with all established safety protocols. He emphasized that any negligence in adhering to these safety measures will not be tolerated.
Gangwa stated that if any employee loses their life due to negligence in implementing mandatory safety measures, the responsible officials will be held accountable and face severe consequences. Additionally, he has ordered the formation of seven monitoring committees in Haryana. These committees will conduct regular inspections in the field to assess safety arrangements and compliance with the established protocols.
The statement noted that the committees will submit their inspection reports directly to the departmental headquarters, which will be presented to the minister without delay. Gangwa highlighted the urgent need to strengthen departmental oversight and accountability to prevent any future lapses. He reiterated that the safety of every employee is the government's top priority, and there will be no compromise on safety standards.
The minister instructed officials that no employee should be allowed to enter sewers or manholes until all necessary safety equipment is provided and all mandatory safety protocols are fully adhered to. He has also directed deputy commissioners to regularly review compliance with safety standards during their monthly review meetings concerning sewer and manhole-related work.
