The Rajasthan government has announced a major recruitment drive for sanitation workers in 2026, aimed at the state's unemployed youth. A total of 24,752 sanitation workers will be recruited on a contractual basis across 183 urban local bodies in the state. A key feature of this recruitment is that there will be no written examination or interview; eligible candidates will be selected through an online lottery system. The application process will commence on August 15, 2026, and continue until September 28, 2026. Interested candidates can apply via their SSO ID or the website of the Directorate of Local Bodies. Uploading a live photograph at the time of application is mandatory.
Applications must be submitted through the SSO ID or the Directorate of Local Bodies portal. Candidates may apply for only one urban local body; applying to more than one will result in the cancellation of all applications. A provision has also been made to regularize selected candidates after five years of satisfactory service, in accordance with the rules.
**What are the qualifications?**
As of January 1, 2027, candidates must be between 21 and 40 years of age. Reserved category and female candidates will be granted relaxation in the upper age limit as per regulations. No minimum educational qualification has been prescribed; therefore, even illiterate individuals may apply. However, candidates must be bona fide residents of Rajasthan and possess at least one year of experience in sanitation work. The experience certificate must have been issued after August 1, 2026, and verified by a competent authority.
**Selection without examination**
There will be no written test or interview. Following document verification, selection will be conducted via an online lottery using software from the Department of Information Technology and Communication. Preference will be given to local candidates with relevant experience. The application fee is ₹600 for the general category and ₹400 for the reserved category and differently-abled candidates.
**What is the salary?**
Selected candidates will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹7,410 during the contract period. In the recruitment process, the benefit of horizontal reservation will also be provided: 30 percent for women, 4 percent for persons with disabilities, and 2 percent for outstanding sportspersons. Jaipur has the highest number of posts at 4,811, while a large number of vacancies have also been announced in several other cities, including Kota, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Sikar, Bharatpur, and Ajmer.
