Vicky Kaushal is preparing for one of the most demanding transformations of his career as he gears up to portray Chiranjeevi Parashurama in Amar Kaushik's upcoming mythological epic 'Mahavatar'. Before stepping into the legendary warrior's mindset, the actor will first focus on building the imposing physique the role demands.
According Mid-Day reports, Vicky will once again team up with celebrity fitness coach Tejas Lalwani, who previously supervised his transformation for ' Chhaava '. His preparation is expected to begin in September, giving him around three months to achieve the desired look before the film goes on floors in December.
Reports also suggest the actor is expected to put on more than 25 kilograms to convincingly portray Parashurama, a figure described in ancient scriptures as a towering and immensely powerful warrior sage.
Bigger challenge than 'Chhaava' for Vicky KaushalVicky had earlier gained around 25 kilograms for 'Chhaava', increasing his weight from approximately 80 kg to 105 kg. However, insiders claim the physical demands of 'Mahavatar' are even greater.
"Vicky gained 25 kilograms for his role in Chhaava, going from 80 kg to 105 kg. For Mahavatar however, he will have to look much bigger. Depicted in ancient texts as a towering personality, Parashurama was granted invincibility and immortality. To stay true to that image, Vicky will have to attain a bulky physique, with a broad chest and immense physical strength as he will have to wield the parashu Parashurama’s divine axe in many sequences."
Intense workout and nutrition plan
To help him achieve the transformation, fitness coach Tejas Lalwani and nutritionist Alkesh Sharotri have reportedly designed a rigorous programme centred on training, nutrition, and recovery.
"His regimen will include multi-joint exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench presses, pull-ups, adding more weight continuously and increasing repetitions. His diet will be reworked entirely so that he has 250 to 500 extra calories every day to fuel new tissue growth. Nuts, dairy, and whole grains will be part of the diet, with an added emphasis on proteins."
Along with strength training and a calorie-rich diet, recovery will play a vital role in Vicky's preparation. The actor is expected to get at least eight hours of sleep every night to support muscle repair, while each muscle group will be given around 48 hours of rest before being trained again, ensuring proper recovery throughout the transformation process.
