The Lucknow Development Authority has issued a recovery notice amounting to ₹26.14 lakh to the owners of an illegal commercial building located in the Aliganj area. This action follows a tragic incident on June 22, where a fire claimed the lives of 15 individuals. An official provided this information on Friday.

According to the official, the notice was sent to the building's owners, including Virendra Prasad Shukla and Surendra Shukla, demanding reimbursement for the expenses incurred during the demolition of the unauthorized structure.

The authority had demolished the illegal portion of the building on July 25, in compliance with a court order. The recovery amount includes costs related to the demolition operation, such as labor, machinery deployment, fuel and maintenance expenses, transportation of equipment, and security provided by the police, all of which were covered by the authority.

This building, situated in Sector D of Aliganj under the enforcement zone-4 of the Lucknow Development Authority, was originally constructed as a residential structure but was illegally converted into a commercial establishment. The devastating fire on June 22 occurred in an office on the second floor, resulting in the tragic deaths of 15 people, while five others managed to escape.
