Yashveer Singh, making his Commonwealth Games debut, captured the most exciting moment of the competition. He was behind in the medal race for the first five attempts. But in his sixth and final attempt, he won the bronze medal with a personal best (PB) of 85.41 meters. With this throw, he also broke his previous personal best of 83.72 meters. Yash surpassed legends like former world champion Anderson Peters and current Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem.

Strong Training
In 2015, at just 14 years old, Yashveer began practicing javelin throw with his father. Hours of hard work was spent perfecting his run-up, grip, and release technique. This led to two consecutive gold medals at the Under-18 National Championships. Then, at the Indian Under-20 Federation Cup, Yashveer made headlines by shattering star athlete Neeraj Chopra’s previous meet record.

Following this, in 2022, he surpassed the 80-meter mark for the first time. In June 2026, he secured a Commonwealth Games berth with a throw of 83.72 meters. Now, he has fulfilled his father’s dream in his first Commonwealth Games appearance.
