New Delhi: A fire broke out in a passenger train in Bihar’s Saharsa on Monday. According to agency reports, the fire broke out in the engine of a rail and an adjoining coach of a passenger train.

The train number of this passenger train was 63344, and it runs between Samastipur and Saharsa. The coach of the train caught fire at the Simri Bakhtiyarpur railway station. The incident happened at around 3 am on Monday.

All the passengers of the train were evacuated safely, said the administration. There are no casualties, they added. So far, it is not known how exactly the blaze started. Efforts are on to find out the cause of the fire.

A policeman was seen inspecting the damaged coach at the Simri Bakhtiyarpur railway station. The entire coach had turned black and was completely damaged due to the fire. Smoke was seen billowing out of the coach which caught fire.

Passengers were seen crowding onto the platform, after the fire was reported. Most of them were asleep when the train caught fire. However, fortunately they were alerted and managed to get out of the train in the nick of time.

Soon after receiving information about the fire, a police team and emergency response vehicles, including the personnel from the fire department reached the station. They managed to douse the fire after almost 2.5 hours.

The normal movement of trains on the route was impacted. However, train movement at this Railway Station and on this particular train route was restored by 6 am.
