Manchester United have been tracking Ismaila Sarr this summer, but Crystal Palace now appear ready to part with the Senegal international.
Manchester United target and Crystal Palace attacker Ismaila Sarr now seems set for an exit from the Premier League.
During his two years at Selhurst Park, the Senegalese forward has made a major impression, helping the club win their first three trophies in the FA Cup, Community Shield and Europa League.
Now, a report by Tuttomercatoweb says the star is “very close” to leaving Crystal Palace – and it appears Manchester United could miss out as well.
According to that report, Fenerbahce are moving forward to sign Sarr within the “next few hours” as they try to strike an agreement with Palace.
As per Foot Mercato, United made enquiries about Sarr earlier in the transfer window, with FourFourTwo understanding that the interest did not develop into a formal bid.
Foot Mercato also cited Senegalese social media account Joueurs SN, which passed on a quote from Sarr in July saying there is “only one” dream club for him, with the winger adding, “I love Manchester United with all my heart, and I'm a huge fan” in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
While that would certainly help explain how often he has scored against Liverpool during his career, a more measured comment was carried by APS in Senegal, with Sarr saying, “I have a three-year contract with Crystal Palace; it’s up to them to decide” when discussing his future.
Sarr has been a major success since returning to the Premier League, coming in as Michael Olise’s replacement for the Eagles.
Palace have not spent any money so far this summer, but new manager Pierre Sage may yet need to act decisively after the departure of Marc Guehi in January – with the long-term futures of Jean-Philippe Mateta and Adam Wharton also still unclear.
Meanwhile, United are still expected to bring in an attacker before the deadline, with FourFourTwo recently even describing Sarr as the dream option for Carrick.
Sarr now looks to be the alternative after Rafael Leao’s move to Turkiye collapsed.
The AC Milan forward turned down a move to Fenerbahce, who had made a formal offer to take the Portugal international to the Super Lig.
Transfermarkt values Sarr at €45 million. United travel to Hull City on August 22 to begin their Premier League campaign.
