The Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) is a mandatory qualifying exam for candidates seeking recruitment to various Group C posts in Uttar Pradesh. These include positions such as Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, VDO, Stenographer, Assistant Accountant, and others. UPSSSC PET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions before applying:
Must have passed Class 10 from a recognized board.
Candidates with Class 12, a diploma, graduation, or higher qualifications are also eligible.
The minimum age must be 18 years and the maximum age 40 years as of July 1, 2026.
Age relaxation for reserved categories will be provided in accordance with Uttar Pradesh government rules.
PET is the first stage of recruitment. Therefore, candidates must qualify for it to apply for post-specific main examinations announced by UPSSSC during the validity period of the PET score.

Exam Pattern
The examination will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions. Two hours will be allotted to complete the paper.
The paper will carry a total of 100 marks.
There will be a negative marking of 1/4 mark for every incorrect answer.
Questions will be asked from subjects such as History, Geography, Economy, Constitution, General Science, Mathematics, Hindi, English, Reasoning, Current Affairs, and General Awareness.
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹185 for General and OBC candidates and ₹95 for SC/ST candidates. PwD candidates are required to pay an online processing fee of ₹25.
