There is significant news for candidates preparing for TGT and PGT teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has released the new syllabus for both recruitment drives on its official website. Several key changes have been made to the exam pattern this time. For the first time, negative marking will be implemented in the TGT and PGT recruitment exams. Additionally, questions on General Knowledge have been included. The PGT recruitment process will also include an interview, as before. The Commission will soon release the General Knowledge syllabus, enabling candidates to align their preparation with the new system.

According to the new exam pattern, a total of 120 questions will be asked in both exams. Of these, 90 questions will be from the relevant subject, and 30 questions will be from General Studies. Each question will carry three marks, making the written exam worth a total of 360 marks. For the PGT recruitment, an interview worth 40 marks will be conducted in addition to the written exam.

The most significant change this time is the introduction of negative marking in both recruitment exams. Previously, TGT and PGT exams consisted of 125 subject-specific questions, with each question carrying four marks. The Commission has currently released only the subject-wise syllabus; the syllabus for General Studies will be issued separately following a Commission meeting. Furthermore, clarification has been sought from the Secondary Education Department regarding equivalent degrees for various subjects.

**Changes in the Sanskrit Subject**
While there have been no major changes to the syllabi of most subjects, some modifications have been made to the Sanskrit syllabus. According to candidates, new sections related to Vedic literature have been added to the PGT Sanskrit syllabus, while the scope of certain older texts has been narrowed. In TGT Sanskrit, *Meghadutam* and *Niti Shatakam* have been removed, and *Hitopadesha*, the second canto of *Raghuvamsha Mahakavya*, and the first chapter of *Sahitya Darpana* have been included.

**Growing Demand for New Recruitment**
Meanwhile, aspiring teachers have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding a new primary teacher recruitment drive. The students state that they have been waiting for a new recruitment process for a long time. Meanwhile, representatives associated with the 'Rozgar Adhikar Abhiyan' (Right to Employment Campaign) have also demanded the early commencement of the recruitment process for the more than one lakh vacant posts across various government departments.
