Chelsea have finalised the signing of experienced midfielder Jordan Henderson on a two-year contract.

The 36-year-old arrives at the Blues after leaving Brentford, despite still having one year remaining on his deal, having made 34 appearances for the club last season.

The former Ajax, Liverpool and Sunderland player adds further experience to Xabi Alonso's squad after putting pen to paper on a contract that runs until 2028, joining fellow new arrival Danny Welbeck.

"Considering the size of the club, the manager, whom I greatly admire, and the quality of the players, this was a massive opportunity I simply could not refuse," Henderson said at his unveiling.

"I was also really impressed by how determined the ownership are to make Chelsea successful and take the club in the right direction.

"For me, it is about giving absolutely everything every single day, both on and off the pitch, to help the players around me and the team as much as I can. I am very excited to get started."

This will be another Premier League season for Henderson, who has now made 463 appearances in the top flight.
