During the current monsoon session of Parliament, the opposition has turned uproar and noise into its most powerful political weapon. As the continuous uproar in both houses severely disrupted crucial legislative work, the ruling party has geared up to respond with a befitting reply. The special meeting of the NDA Parliamentary Party, called “Mangal Milan,” held in the Parliament complex on Tuesday, became the focal point of this political strategy. A foolproof floor management plan was developed for the next ten days of the session, enabling the government to not only advance its crucial bills with ease but also to surround and defeat the opposition from all sides within the House. It is clear that while the opposition’s sole focus is on creating uproar, the NDA has now entered the fray relying on mutual coordination, solid data, and a strong, organized strategy.

A Gathering of High-profile Members of Parliament

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S. Several senior central government ministers, including Jaishankar and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and MPs from various NDA constituent parties were present. Significantly, BJP National President Nitin Naveen was also seen sitting right next to Prime Minister Modi. This meeting came at a time when the BJP recently suffered a setback in the Bankipur assembly seat by-election in Bihar. Despite this, the focus of the entire meeting remained on the upcoming parliamentary strategy and sharpening the government’s agenda.

Political Significance and Strategy of ‘Mangal Milan’

For some time now, this weekly meeting has been named ‘Mangal Milan’ and has become the largest and most important platform for establishing parliamentary coordination within the NDA. Held every Tuesday during the Parliament session, this meeting outlines the government’s legislative agenda, the party’s strong stance on various issues that may arise in the House, MPs’ attendance in the House, and the important role of allies. Speaking responsibilities in the House are also distributed from this platform among the leaders of Shiv Sena, JDU, TDP, LJP, JDS, and other constituent parties, so that the government’s position can be presented to the nation in a unified and strong manner.

Sports and Employment Statistics Counterattack the Opposition

A large part of today’s meeting focused on conveying the government’s remarkable achievements to its MPs in detail. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave a detailed presentation on India’s growing strength in the sports sector. He explained that since the new sports policy was adopted in 2014, India has created history at major international platforms like the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games, achieving record-breaking performances and winning numerous gold medals. The government’s aim is to convey these achievements to the public as a changing picture of a ‘New India’, rather than limiting them to sports alone.

Furthermore, the Modi government presented robust data to MPs on the pressing issue of employment in the country. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari informed that the meeting shared that while only 28.9 million youth were able to find jobs during the UPA government’s tenure between 2004 and 2014, new employment opportunities have been created for approximately 171 million youth between 2014 and 2026 under the NDA. The impact of various welfare schemes was also explained so that all MPs could reach out directly to the public with these facts.

Preparations to Defeat the Opposition on Their Own Ground

The meeting also reflected the growing coordination within the NDA. BJP MP and former Union Minister P.P. Choudhary smilingly remarked, “There is always good luck in a good union.” Senior MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay, who left the Trinamool Congress and joined the NCP, participated in the meeting for the first time and said that he is one of the country’s most senior MPs and that his party is completely united. He praised the NDA’s disciplined functioning. Political experts believe that the way the NDA has prepared its strategy for the next ten days with facts, figures and strict floor management in response to every move of the opposition, it now seems very difficult for the opposition to succeed in the Parliament.
