Pune: Pune Rural Police have claimed to have solved the murder of a 40-year-old man whose body was found near the old Katraj tunnel, with investigators alleging that the killing was driven by a grudge dating back more than two decades.
The victim, identified as Sanjay Baburao Kadu-Deshmukh, was found with multiple sharp-weapon injuries near the tunnel in Bhor tehsil on July 11. Rajgad Police subsequently registered a murder case and began an investigation.
Two Suspects Identified Through Technical Evidence
Police said technical evidence led investigators to Manthan Vaidya and Saurabh Pardeshi, who were taken into custody on July 14. During questioning, the two allegedly admitted their involvement and named Mizan Shaikh and Sandip Kori as accomplices.
Revenge Motive Traced to 2003 Murder
According to investigators, Kadu-Deshmukh had allegedly killed Manthan’s father, Dinesh Vaidya, following a dispute in 2003. Manthan was reportedly only six months old at the time.
Police allege that Manthan carried resentment over his father’s death for years and eventually conspired with the other accused to kill Kadu-Deshmukh.
Victim Was Out on Bail
Officials said Kadu-Deshmukh was out on bail in a separate criminal case when he was attacked. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is underway.
